Defence Related Environmental Assessment Methodology (DREAM)
IAQ Consultants are leading consultancy for the assessment of indoor air quality. This includes producing indoor air quality plans for developments in compliance with new building standards such as DREAM, investigating air quality within the workplace, developing risk assessment tools and researching indoor air quality within homes. Our team developed the risk assessment approach in the Institute of Air Quality Management’s guidance on indoor air quality.
DREAM is an environmental performance assessment tool for new build and refurbishment projects developed to address the unique nature of Ministry of Defence (MOD) buildings, providing the MOD with an equivalent to the industry standard. The requirement for undertaking DREAM for MOD projects is driven by the Government Buying Standard for New Build Construction and Major Refurbishments.
DREAM consists of a series of modules for newly built or refurbished defence building types. These include:
- Hangars and workshops;
- Kitchen and dining facilities;
- Commercial space;
- Living accommodation;
- Mediterranean living accommodation;
- Mediterranean kitchen and dining; and
- Minor new built or refurbishment.
IAQ Consultants can help with obtaining credits for the DREAM Design Stage Rating. Our service includes developing a plan that specifically addresses indoor air pollution. The plan addresses the following:
- Management of contaminant sources;
- Air pollution testing; and
- Maintenance of air quality once the building is occupied.
We can also help with obtaining further credits by ensuring the internal finishes comply with ‘BS EN 16516:2017+A1:2020 Construction products: Assessment of release of dangerous substances’ and specified performance standards.
